Hi, my name is Crystal, and I am the owner and CEO of the CLR solutions group and the host of Thee HR Chick podcast. I have worked for over 20+ years in various HR capacities with some of the most prominent companies in the world. I can proudly say I am a Sr. Director of HR in a company that is one of the largest distribution channels in the world.
My journey to becoming an HR Executive was not easy, nor did it happen overnight, but I never gave up on my dreams. Growing up in biopic neighborhoods like Canarsie and Fort green projects, I lacked educational resources, money, and financial freedom. I was not informed about college, scholarships, and career choices. I was never given a handout. Everything I learned, I had to learn on my own without help or someone to show me how to navigate the corporate waters. This made climbing the corporate ladder hard. I lacked the professional foundation for career success. I felt I had to crawl before I walked, walk before I ran while everyone else sprinted up the corporate ladder.
During my career, I had limited access to mentors or leaders to show me how to navigate the HR field or groom me into being the leader I am today. I made mistakes in my career, and there were many times when I wanted to throw in the towel, but I kept pushing forward no matter what was thrown my way. I need you to understand that the journey was never easy, and no one gave me a pass or a helping hand. Sometimes I thought about giving up on my dreams because it seemed like no one cared about me or was willing to help me with my goals, objectives, and aspirations. I was told I wasn't smart enough, didn't look the part, was too young for an executive job role, and my ideas would fail.
I was the sole income maker, fixer, and caregiver. Those who know me know I could not give up even when I wanted to because my family depended on me. I had to make a lot of sacrifices and figure out quickly what I wanted to do about my life and career, so I worked hard to develop a plan and strategies to make my dreams come true.
THEN one day, something extraordinary happened ...... I was able to land the job, position, and salary of my dreams by following simple leadership techniques. I didn't stop there. One Saturday morning, I woke up and asked myself if I could build HR/Business systems, processes, and procedures for the companies I worked for; why couldn't I do it for myself and my own business? With that thought, I developed a business plan, created standardized procedures and an operating agreement, and opened two successful small businesses that generated revenue within the first year.
Through my ventures, I figured out some tips, tricks, and techniques that helped me catapult my career and business, and I would like to share those techniques with you. I will give you a helping hand no one extended to me. As a business owner and a professional in the corporate world, I understand your struggle and desire to accomplish your goals and dreams.
